For many, this building represents the soul of Marseille and the symbol of a utopia; that of architect Le Corbusier who, just after the war, chose to build a popular city in the noblest sense of the word, designed with its inhabitants' well-being in mind.
Although visiting it is now a little complicated (by prior arrangement only, with most homes inhabited and therefore off limits), discovering the roof terrace remains a Marseille highlight.
This rooftop in the sky reveals a breath-taking view of the city and is also home to Mamo, a contemporary art centre conceived in 2014 by designer Ora Ito that has already hosted some of the greatest names: Xavier Veilhan, Daniel Buren, Felice Varini and, this year, the Californian artist Alex Israel.
